Motherhood, the blessing of all blessings.... also the curse of all curses (half-heartedly kidding of course). But as all parents know, that time that you used to have to yourself is VERY RARE. I think back to my kidless days... even my single days and I think "Wow, I never knew how much time I had until now when I NO LONGER HAVE IT!"
In my personal opinion, this is one of the most important things you can do for yourself as a mother, wife, or even just person. We all need that reset in our life.
In the morning, we I NEED that coffee, I let the kids cry in their rooms for the extra 5-10 minutes, just so I can get my head right. The world is ending upstairs with the endless fighting, but at least I have my cup of joe!
I never was a morning person.... that is until I became a parent. And that's because that is the ONE time of day that I can be just me.... read a book, strap on my Hoka's (I like Bondi 8) and go for a run, type out a blog post, yoga, or just sit in silence (a true treasure if you ever find it!).
I have truly found that my patience, acts of service, and mind set is better on days when I take that extra time for me. If we don't practice self-care, how are we to practice "others-care".
Find your relaxation, your peace, your silence. Meditate in those moments as you do what you love or rest in yourself.
